In addition to our regular agenda items there will be a Special Presentation: “Electronically Assisted Observing” by Gary Sprague

Electronic assisted observing: This special presentation will describe approaches for using video cameras to augment visual observing. This is a “hybrid” approach to visual observing using elements of imaging with a video camera. It can be relatively easy and affordable (compared to standard astrophotography). Video cameras (camcorders, webcams, etc.) are numerous; they use CCD’s smaller than DSLR and can obtain multiple images/minute. Images can be viewed immediately using a video monitor or they can be output to a computer. The presentation will describe typical equipment available and demonstrate one particular approach.
