You will be able to ask questions and get advice to improve your stargazing hobby.
You will meet people who share their love for astronomy and all astronomy related things!
We ask you read and attain to the following important information before attending our events, to ensure that you are prepared and will enjoy fully the experience.
What to do to prepare to attend our Starwatches:
Our Star Watch are held primarily at the Tohickon Boat Launch parking lot from May to November.
We advise you to bring bugs spray during the summer months! and always a jacket as it gets chilly by the lake.
While the astronomers from Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association will have telescopes available to look through and will be on hand to answer questions, you are invited to bring binoculars or your own telescopes if you have them.
We ask that you leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of other participants and to prevent potential damage to delicate equipment.
Participants are welcome to arrive on time for pre-Star Watch activities while we wait for darkness.
Starwatches take place in the grassy median between the two upper parking tiers. Please park facing away from this grassy area to reduce glare from headlights.
Dim cell phone screens and use red night vision modes if at all possible.
Stargazing will commence about 30 minutes after the starting time listed for the event, to allow the sky darkness to reveal the stars.
The use of laser pointers is limited to Park Rangers and Members of the club.
If you see any member of the public using a laser pointer, please report that to either one of our club members or to one of the Resource Rangers from the park.
Please check this website for updates in case the weather leads to postponement. Postponements, if any, will be communicated here by 5:00 PM on the day of the event.
*** Club Members, please wear your BMAA ID badge/lanyard (If you are a new member and need a badge/lanyard, let Bill duBell know and we’ll get you one).
Those of you showing images via tablets or laptops, please position your screens to face away from other astronomers and the observing field.
