LECTURE: Eclipses, Auroras and Comets, Oh My!
by Dwight Dulsky
2024 was an incredible year featuring three major astronomical events for astronomers. These are jaw dropping sights that don’t happen that often, and to have these bucket list items appear right in our backyards is very rare. Our astronomers are constantly watching the skies and recording these special happenings year-round. We will revisit these three unique events and tell the backstory of how they occur and what we do to capture them in stunning detail. While most people sleep, the Universe unfolds a beautiful tableau during the night.
Presenter: For the past 20 years, Dwight Dulsky of the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association has worked on school and community outreach programming among numerous regional organizations teaching children and adults about the wonders of the night sky. Most recently, with the Astronomical Society of the Pacific providing Solar Eclipse safety information in 2024.
Register to attend at the Upper Dublin Library Website
UPDATE: Due to the predicted 100% cloud cover, BMA2 will not participate to this event.

"21st Century Amateur Astronomy" by Dwight Dulsky, BMA2 Outreach Coordinator and NASA Ambassador.
Hosted by the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve
The Presentation will be over Zoom - 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
Please check the organizer website for the Zoom link.
The face of amateur astronomy has changed dramatically over the past few years. Advances in optics, precision mounts, computerized cameras and tracking capabilities have all elevated the world of the backyard astronomer to new levels that rival what professional observatories were capable of just a few years ago. Amateur equipment and citizen science opportunities abound for ordinary people to make valuable contributions to the professional astronomical community. Whether just casually stargazing with friends or monitoring the skies for science, it is an exciting time we live in for amateur astronomers. We'll explore what it takes to get involved with observing the sky, along with showing some of the amazing astrophotos taken by the club members of the Bucks-Mont Astronomical Association.
Join us for an Informal Starwatch event at Kahir Community Center & Mosque in Phoenixville 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Maple Glen Elementary School STEM Festival, March 12 from 6-7:30PM.
BMA2 Club Members will have astronomy activities appropriate for younger kids.
An indoor telescope display and possibly an outdoor telescope set up for observation.
Join us for a presentation by Dwight Dulsky, NASA Ambassador and BMA2 Outreach Coordinator titled “How we Know – Creative ways astronomers explore the Universe".
Over time, astronomers have unlocked many secrets of the universe in very clever and unique ways. In this hour, we will discover how we have come to know some of the great mysteries of the Universe.
This event is free and open to the public, but registration with the library is required to guarantee a seat.
